In the event today at New Delhi, Nokia announced a new member in their Asha series of smart feature phones, Nokia Asha 501, with beautifully attractive design, brilliant specifications, and a new, fully revamped Asha user interface. Read on for more.
Nokia Asha 501 is now official and brings a host of new and attractive features to low end market. Asha 501 is the first phone in Nokia Asha’s 5xx range and the first phone that is based on “Smarterphone OS” which was acquired by Nokia last year. The phone comes in two versions – Single SIM and Dual SIM.
Asha 501’s design and build quality is just what we expects from Nokia. It’s compact and easy-to-use with one hand. It has a beautifully sleek design with curved edges in striking colours. The phone is made up of just two parts which are highly robust and durable.
Nokia Asha 501 brings the highly modernized, new generation Asha User Interface. The UI looks inspired from the Nokia N9 (MeeGo Harmattan). It has swipe deeply integrated in the platform (swipe in applications, swipe in homescreens, swipe on lockscreen, everywhere) which is fast, smooth and looks amazing. UI has two swipable homescreens, the Fastlane containing notifications of everything you do, and the app list containing the apps installed in the phone.
Talking about the specs then Asha 501 comes with a 3″ inch, 320×240, QVGA capacitive touch screen with double tap to wake feature, 3.2MP camera for photography, 4GB memory card included in the box, expandable upto 32GB, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, 1200mAh battery with standby time of upto 48 days (2G) and talktime of 17h (2G), etc. See more specifications here.
Nokia Asha 501 will also offer powerful mapping features. Most applications like Facebook, twitter, foursquare, etc are available. Nokia, in an exclusive deal with Facebook globally, is also offering free access to facebook with Asha 501, without needing to pay the data charges. FREE EA games pack will be there for the user to enjoy premium games.
Nokia store have lots of other apps and games to download. And now nokia have enabled ‘try & buy’ feature in Nokia store which will let user try the app before paying money for it.
The Nokia Asha 501 will be made available in six eye-catching colours (Bright Red, Bright Green, Cyan, Yellow, White and Black) this June at an affordable price of $99 (approx Rs. 5000 INR) before taxes and subsidies.
