China Unicom and Nokia yesterday launched their low end smartphone, Nokia Lumia 520 in chinese market at a price of 1298 yuan (206 USD). With over 125M users, China Unicom is China’s second largest and 3rd largest operator of the world. China Mobile, which has currently 700M users is the biggest operator in the world. However, the latest 3G subscribers figure says that China Unicom has 70M users which is very close to the China Mobile’s numbers of 79M.
China Unicom is also China’s fatest 3G Network having 21 Mpbs speeds which is almost triple the speeds of China Mobile and China Telecom. With 90M WCDMA in expected sales, China Unicom is looking to grow their 3G subscriber base even more this year. And the good news is that Nokia looks to be their focused partner in all this.
China Mobile is also expected to get Nokia Lumia 520 and 720 soon.
